Sheraton Norfolk Waterside Hotel

This is not a 4.2 hotel in any form. Stayed last night 8/11, Room 640. If you get this room deny it and request another. To get in, you must ram the door with your shoulder because it is so off center and hits the jamb. The air conditioner shuts off and is positioned so any movement will not trigger it to turn on, 74 degrees. The shower doesnt drain well, so youre standing in 3 inches of water when taking a shower. The curtains do not shut all the way so sun wakes you up first thing. Oh, no conditioner, completely empty bottle. The breakfast buffet was an atrocious disaster. $20 for trash food that quite honestly I wouldnt feed to my dog. The Valet guys are less than helpful. The lounge on the 10th floor… don’t bother. Not stocked, warmed up disgusting frozen spring rolls… I would not recommend this property. Aged not well maintained. Marriott, what a horrible experience. I gave you my night and room number. Lets see how you handle this absolute disaster of a room and experience. And dont leave me a message to “call you”. YOU can call me….

I recently stayed at this property for four nights. While the hotel offers decent accommodations, the experience was a mix of highlights and areas needing improvement. On the positive side, the front desk staff were incredibly sweet and courteous, and room service was both prompt and efficient. My room was comfortable and featured a spectacular view of the Elizabeth River and the world’s largest naval base. However, cleanliness was inconsistent. Upon arrival, I noticed dust on the tables, and the lobby couches were visibly stained. Additionally, while I brought my own hair dryer, I was surprised to find a rusted, poorly maintained Dyson dryer left in the bathroom. Fortunately, the beds and carpets were perfectly clean, making for a comfortable sleep.

I had to switch hotels unexpectedly due to my last hotel building did not have working AC. The Sheraton has been amazing with helping me out. Shakisha working the front desk was absolutely amazing offering me help with ways to get my Marriott points back from a different Marriott that I had left. Honestly, without her help I would have been wondering in circles. The hotel is in an amazing location and exactly what I was needing in a place to stay. I have to say I wish I booked this hotel first when looking at a place to stay. The whole staff has been amazing from the time I checked in.

My wife and I stayed here this weekend, (2 days after Christmas) and I do not have enough words to explain how great an experience it was for us. The young lady at checkout started it all with a friendly and fast check in and the valet kept it up! The service here was absolutely top-notch and every employee we encountered helped make the experience better. We had a beautiful harbor view room that was neat and clean as well as comfortable. We enjoyed the evening social hour and breakfast in the Sheraton Club Lounge and those were A+ as well. Everything about this stay was wonderful and when we are in the area again we will absolutely return!
